As a postpartum doula, I provide families with research-based guidance on how to navigate various aspects of the fourth trimester. This includes, but is not limited to, non-medical after birth care for the birthing parent, how to care for the new, sweet baby/ies, and lactation support. Let me bring your baby to you to nurse, bottle, or chest/breast, while your body recovers, for example. I'll get your nursing tools, make sure you're comfy, bring you what you need, and can guide nursing to ensure your newborn is latched and eating.
Additionally, postpartum doulas offer parents and their families compassionate care in other ways, such as running errands, completing light household chores, and cooking meals. Due to my own needs, and though I am no chef, I specialize in anti-inflammatory meals, which are a great holistic tool to help the birthing parent's body recover. I am more than happy to discuss some of your favorite foods, too!
In doing this, a postpartum doula can help families feel more satisfied about their postpartum experience, allowing them to focus their energy on resting, healing, and bonding.
A personal note: As a mother who gave birth to my sweet girl in 2020, I understand firsthand how important it is to have a village and as much individualized support as possible. Whether you have a question and are unsure which direction to go, or if you need someone to help facilitate running the home so you can have your mind clear to think about your self-care, caring for the baby, bonding with your older children if applicable, and maybe even finding time to connect with your partner, I am here to support you.
